Kids in the Market

We encourage the whole family to visit the Market.  It is a great opportunity for children to learn about where their food comes from and about the people who grow it.  They often have great questions about their Market experiences.

Besides offering a learning opportunity about food production, the Market offers a special booth called Seedlings and Sprouts where children can enjoy activities specially designed to make their experience at the Market interesting and fun.  Past activities have included making vegetable prints, pumpkin painting, decorating paper-plate ladybugs, story reading, and vegetable hunting. Come to the market and see what’s new in the Seedlings and Sprouts booth each week.  Activities are posted on the sandwich board just outside the booth, in the Farmers Market weekly newsletter, and on this website.

The Market also offers a Power of Produce, a federally recognized program that helps educate children on what produce is, where you find it, and what benefits come from eating it.

Due to COVID-19, both these programs are on hold in accordance with our COVID-19 Preparedness and Prevention Plan.
