Annette Pepper

Annette Pepper was born and raised in Michigan. She is originally from Laingsburg and belonged to Future Farmers of America. Her grandmother had a 300 acre farm in Perry, Michigan that she was allowed to have horses as long as she took care of them every day.  Annette’s mother always motivated the children to help on the farm that included harvesting; feeding various animals, to milking cows.  Annette has been married for 22 years to Don Pepper, with one child Sydney, and they have two dogs.  You will find the Peppers (no pun) out in their garden, which is named Pepper’s Farm.  The family loves trips to the lake and hiking trails.

Annette worked at Community Mental Health Association of Michigan (CMHAM) for 17.5 years planning and developing training and educational events and coordinating conferences.  Her expertise was valued for her leadership role in mental health and substance use disorder education and training portfolio offered through the MDHHS-Community Mental Health Association partnership.

Annette’s leadership extends far beyond her Association leadership within SGMP (Society Government Meeting Professionals). When work needs to get done – especially complex, politically- and time- sensitive, nearly-impossible, and involving a wide range of personalities (often in conflict with each other), everyone knew to call on Annette. Her willingness and ability to take on such projects, often thankless projects, made her a tremendous asset to SGMP and Mi. Department of Health and Human Services.

Annette earned her associate degree in business at Lansing Community College and later attended MSU and earned her Bachelor Degree in Business Administration at University of Texas.  Annette has held a variety of Volunteer and Board positions. Working for an Association Management Company, she helped boards transition into volunteer boards. She guided volunteer boards in governance, developing vision statements and establishing goals.

Currently, Annette works at EXIT Realty Home Partners as an Office Manager where she helps the broker manage 20+ sales agents, manage brokerage compliance, etc.  We are happy to add her to our Board of Directors for Sowing Growth.
